When seniors are trying to decide on a location for their session, Ney Park is always one of my top recommendations. It’s one of those places that offers so much variety without needing to travel all over, which makes it perfect for senior sessions. Located in Maple Lake, Ney Park has become one of my go-to spots for senior photos because it works beautifully for so many different styles. Whether someone wants something natural and relaxed, colorful summer photos, or warm fall tones, this location always delivers. Another reason I love using Ney Park for senior sessions is the variety of backdrops within a short distance. We can move between wooded paths, open green spaces, water views, and rustic textures without spending time driving between locations. That means more time for photos and less time worrying about logistics.
Over the past season I photographed several Class of 2026 seniors at Ney Park, and each session felt completely unique depending on the lighting, outfits, and time of year.
Why Ney Park is Perfect for Senior Photos
There are so many little pockets within the park that photograph beautifully. Some of my favorite features include:
• Wooded trails that create a natural, relaxed feel
• Open grassy areas that glow during golden hour (wildflowers, too!)
• Water views that add depth and calm tones to photos
• Seasonal color that changes throughout the year
Because of that variety, Ney Park works well for seniors who want a mix of looks without multiple locations.
Seniors Featured at Ney Park
These Class of 2026 seniors chose Ney Park as part of their senior session:
Claire, Olivia, Khloe, Brodye, Makkal, Mariah, Lily, Elsa, Gracie, Joey, Alyxis, and Wyatt
Each of their sessions brought something a little different to the space, which is one of the reasons I love this spot.
Choosing the Right Location for Your Senior Session
One of the things I help seniors with before their session is choosing locations that match their personality and style. Some seniors want nature, some want an urban feel, and others want a combination of both.
Ney Park is perfect for seniors who want:
• Natural scenery
• Soft, timeless images
• A relaxed environment
• Beautiful sunset lighting
It also pairs really well with nearby locations like Downtown Buffalo or Otter Creek Park if someone wants to add variety to their session.
Planning Your Senior Session
If you're starting to think about senior photos, choosing the right location is one of the first steps. I help all of my seniors plan their session so that it reflects who they are and what they love.
Ney Park is just one of many beautiful locations in Central Minnesota, but it continues to be one of my favorites year after year.
