Shay & Devyn's Joy-Filled Summer Wedding at the Willmar Conference Center

There is something incredibly special about wedding days that begin at home. Before the dresses, the flowers, and the excitement of the ceremony, there is a sense of comfort that only comes from getting ready in a place filled with memories. For Shay and Devyn, their wedding day started exactly that way, surrounded by the people who have loved and supported them every step of the way at Shay's family home. July in central Minnesota has a way of creating the perfect backdrop for celebrations, and July 18th couldn't have been a better day to celebrate these two. From heartfelt private vows to an unforgettable dance floor, every part of the day reflected who Shay and Devyn are as a couple, joyful, genuine, deeply in love, and surrounded by incredible family and friends.

As wedding videographers, we get the privilege of witnessing countless love stories unfold, but every once in a while there is a wedding where you can truly feel just how loved a couple is. Shay and Devyn's day was one of those weddings.

A Relaxed Morning at Home

The morning began at Shay's family home, and it immediately set the tone for the rest of the day.

The property itself was beautiful, offering peaceful views, gorgeous greenery, and countless meaningful places.

Inside the house, excitement filled every room. Final touches were being put in place, dresses on, and everyone was counting down the minutes until the celebrations officially began. One of our favorite parts of every wedding day is the quiet moments before everything starts moving quickly.

A Beautiful Tribute to Devyn's Mom

Among all the beautiful details throughout the morning, one stood out in an especially meaningful way.

Devyn wore a robe that had been made from her mom's wedding dress. It was such a thoughtful way to honor a piece of family history while creating something completely unique for her own wedding day. As she got ready wearing it, you could tell it meant so much to both of them. Those little family heirlooms often become some of the most meaningful details of a wedding day. They're reminders that a wedding isn't just about two people coming together, it's about generations of love leading to this moment.

Mother and Daughter Moments

When it was finally time to put on the dress, Devyn's mom helped with the final finishing touches.

These moments are always some of our favorites to film. There are smiles, happy tears, deep breaths, and little adjustments as mom helps zip the dress and get the jewelry on, and takes one last look before her daughter becomes a bride. It was one of those quiet moments that says everything without needing many words.

Years of memories all lead to those final few minutes before walking out the door to see her groom.

Dad's First Look

Before the big reveal, Devyn shared a first look with her dad. As soon as he turned around, his face lit up.

Seeing his daughter in her wedding dress for the very first time was an emotional moment, and it was easy to understand why. His smile said everything. These first looks with parents have become one of our favorite traditions to capture because they give families a chance to slow down and enjoy one another before the schedule picks up. It was such a genuine, heartfelt moment between father and daughter that neither of them will ever forget.

Shay & Devyn's First Look

Then came one of the biggest moments of the day. Shay and Devyn's first look. Standing only a few feet apart, you could almost feel the anticipation. There were plenty of butterflies, lots of excitement, and maybe a few nerves as they waited to see each other. The second they turned around, everything changed. The nerves instantly disappeared. Instead of worrying about the timeline or everything still ahead, they simply smiled. They laughed. They hugged. They caught each other up on everything that had happened throughout the morning. Those few minutes together became a calm pause before the celebration truly began.

Private Vows Filled with Love

Following their first look, Shay and Devyn exchanged private vows.

This has become one of our favorite parts of many wedding days because it allows couples to share words meant only for each other. There wasn't a crowd (Except maybe a few onlookers through the upstairs window.😉) Just the two of them. Every sentence was thoughtful. Every promise was genuine. Watching them listen so intently to one another was a beautiful reminder that weddings aren't about perfection, they're about the commitment being made between two people who love each other deeply. These are often the moments couples tell us become their favorite part of their wedding film because they get to relive words that can easily become a blur amidst such an emotional day.

Exploring the Family Property

With the emotions of the first look behind them, we spent some time exploring the family property for portraits.

The variety of locations made every stop feel unique. Summer greenery surrounded every scene, giving us a timeless Minnesota backdrop while allowing Shay and Devyn to simply enjoy being together.

A Classic Car and Endless Smiles

One of the highlights of portrait time came when they brought out one of their classic cars. It added such a fun and timeless element to the day. Shay and Devyn climbed inside together, laughed through every moment, and created some incredibly fun photos and video. The classic car fit their day perfectly and gave us some truly unforgettable moments that will look just as timeless decades from now.

Arriving at the Church

Before guests began arriving, we made our way to the church.

This quiet window before the ceremony always feels different. Everything is ready. Flowers are in place. Music is being prepared. Family members begin arriving. Guests slowly find their seats while excitement builds with every passing minute. The church itself provided a beautiful setting for the ceremony ahead and reflected the significance of the promises Shay and Devyn were about to make.

A Ceremony Centered on Faith

As the processional began, every eye turned toward the back of the church. Then Devyn began walking down the aisle. The smile on Shay's face was impossible to miss. In return, Devyn couldn't stop smiling either.

Those few seconds often feel like they pass in an instant, but they're some of the most emotional moments of the entire wedding day. Throughout the Mass, it was evident that their relationship was built on more than just love for one another. Their ceremony beautifully highlighted the importance of God at the center of their marriage and the commitment they were making not only to each other but to their shared faith. It was a meaningful, joyful celebration that reflected exactly who they are as a couple.

Becoming Husband and Wife

As vows were exchanged and rings placed on each other's fingers, the anticipation built toward the moment everyone had been waiting for. Their first kiss as husband and wife. The church erupted with applause and cheers.

The excitement was contagious as they walked back down the aisle together, officially beginning this brand new chapter of life side by side. Those joyful exits never get old. The smiles. The laughter. The celebration from family and friends. It's impossible not to smile while filming moments like these.

Celebrating at the Willmar Conference Center

Following the ceremony, everyone made their way to the Willmar Conference Center to continue the celebration.

Guests enjoyed a relaxed cocktail hour filled with appetizers, drinks, conversations, and plenty of hugs as everyone congratulated the newlyweds. It's always one of our favorite times to capture candid moments because guests finally have a chance to slow down, reconnect, and celebrate together.

An Entrance Full of Energy

When it was time to officially begin the reception, the bridal party made sure the energy was high from the very beginning. They burst into the reception with fun marquee signs, dancing, cheering, and bringing smiles to every table in the room. It was the perfect way to kick off an evening that would only become more fun as the night continued. Immediately afterward, a blessing was shared before everyone enjoyed a delicious dinner together.

After a full day of celebrating, it was safe to say everyone was ready to eat.

Speeches Nine Years in the Making

One of the biggest themes throughout the reception was just how long Shay and Devyn's story has been unfolding.

After dinner, the speeches began. Their fathers shared first, followed by the best man and maid of honor. Again and again, one thing became incredibly clear. These two had built something truly special over the course of their nine-year relationship. Each speaker reflected on memories, milestones, laughter, and all the reasons they knew Shay and Devyn were meant for each other. Perhaps the sweetest part was seeing how intertwined both families had become long before the wedding day. It never felt like two separate families coming together. It felt like one big family celebrating something they had all been waiting years to witness. The love, support, and admiration in every speech filled the room.

First Dances Filled with Emotion

The first dance is always one of the most anticipated moments of the reception.

As Shay and Devyn stepped onto the dance floor together, they couldn't stop smiling at one another. There were little laughs. Quiet conversations. Joyful glances. It was obvious they were simply enjoying finally being husband and wife. Following their dance, Devyn shared a beautiful father-daughter dance that celebrated a lifetime of memories leading to this day. Soon after, Shay and his mom took the floor for a dance that was fun, lighthearted, and full of smiles. Before the open dancing began, everyone gathered for an anniversary dance.

Married couples were invited onto the dance floor, celebrating the many years of love represented throughout the room. It was the perfect transition into the night's biggest celebration.

Then the music picked up. Within moments, the dance floor was packed. Friends, family, grandparents, kids, and everyone in between filled the room with energy. There was no shortage of dancing.
