Some weddings are filled with moments that just stick with you—the kind that make your cheeks hurt from smiling and your heart feel just a little fuller. Tanner and Shelby’s wedding on June 7th, 2025 was that kind of day. From the getting-ready giggles to the grandest reception entrance, their wedding was bursting with love, personality, tradition, and joy. Let me walk you through this sweet and spirited celebration.

The day began at Shelby’s parents’ house, where the girls were already well into hair and makeup with the ever-talented Mariah and Sarah from LUX Salon. It was the kind of morning that you dream of—sunlight streaming through the windows and a house filled with excitement, nerves, and laughter. The girls were relaxed but buzzing with anticipation, surrounded by the people they love most. You could feel how close this group was—every smile, every hug, every shared mirror moment had a layer of warmth to it that made everything feel even more special. Once makeup brushes were set down and final curls were sprayed into place, it was time to get dressed. The guys had suited up, the girls were stepping into their gowns, and the day was ready to officially begin. Inside the house, Shelby’s mom helped her into her dress. The room quieted as Shelby stepped into her gown—it was such a sweet moment of mother-daughter connection, the kind that makes time feel like it slows down just for a minute. There were a few teary eyes as the final buttons were fastened and Shelby turned around, glowing with excitement and love. We then made our way to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, a beautiful, peaceful space that held so much meaning for this couple and their families. Tanner stood in the aisle, waiting to see his bride for the first time. You could almost feel his nerves—and the second he saw Shelby, it all melted away. Their faces lit up, and everything else just faded into the background for a minute. They shared a quiet moment together right there in the aisle, holding hands, exchanging glances, and reading letters they’d written to one another. It was emotional and grounding, a beautiful reminder of the why behind all the excitement of the day. After the first look, we took some time to wander around the church grounds for bride and groom portraits. Shelby and Tanner were completely themselves—full of soft smiles and little glances that made my job a total breeze. The church provided such a stunning, timeless backdrop for these portraits. With classic architecture and soft natural light, it really set the tone for this traditional-yet-playful wedding day. Once we’d soaked up a little quiet time, it was time to bring in the bridal party! And what a fun crew they were. You could tell this group loved celebrating Shelby and Tanner—there were laughs, cheers, and some very fun photo ideas (yes, those always make my day!). From there, we transitioned into family portraits—the kind of photos that get framed, passed down, and looked back on for decades. Everyone was full of smiles, and the love shared among these families was obvious and genuine. With portraits wrapped up, it was time for a little rest and a lot of anticipation. As guests arrived and found their seats inside the church, you could feel the excitement rising. The ceremony began, and Shelby made her way down the aisle, radiating joy. Tanner beamed at her, and once again, the whole room felt wrapped in warmth and love. Their Catholic ceremony was beautiful and heartfelt, filled with meaningful traditions and moments of reverence. There were vows, blessings, rings, and prayers—a ceremony rooted deeply in their faith and overflowing with joy. When the priest pronounced them husband and wife, the smiles that broke across their faces were everything. They shared their first kiss, and just like that, they were married! The new Mr. and Mrs. made their way down the aisle, hands clasped tightly, hearts full. Outside the church, they took time to greet every guest, a gesture that felt so personal and true to who they are—kind, intentional, and full of heart. While the guests headed to the reception, the bridal party climbed into a limo from 1st Class Transportation and kicked off the celebration with a few pit stops at some local bars. It was the perfect chance to relax, laugh, and soak in the post-ceremony glow with their closest friends. This time together was clearly special—not just a party, but a pause to really feel the joy of what just happened. When the bridal party arrived at Rockford Township Hall, it was time to make an entrance… and let me tell you, they did not disappoint. Each group had their moment to shine: a groomsmen carried a bridesmaid in on their shoulders, ushers slid through legs, and Tanner and Shelby came in with a coordinated leprechaun jump that had the whole room cheering. It was goofy, full of energy, and 100% unforgettable. They moved straight into their first dance, which felt like this beautiful breath of calm in the middle of the party. With lights dimmed and music playing, they swayed together as if they were the only two people in the room. After the first dance, short speeches from their dads and a blessing over the meal reminded everyone of the love and faith that anchored this day. Dinner was provided by Broaster Catering, and it did not disappoint—guests were very happy and very full, always a good sign. Then came the speeches from the maid of honor and best man, and I don’t think there was a dry eye or untouched funny bone in the room. Leah, Shelby’s sister and maid of honor, shared heartfelt stories about growing up together—sweet, funny, and so clearly full of sisterly love. Carter, Tanner’s best friend and best man, brought the charm with stories from their friendship and lots of support for this new chapter. Together, the speeches felt like a love letter from the people who know them best. Next up was a sweet and sentimental moment: the cake cutting. Shelby and Tanner used a family heirloom cake knife, passed down from her grandparents and used at each generation’s wedding. It was a small but deeply meaningful tradition, tying together the generations with every careful slice. After cake, it was time to cue the music again—starting with Shelby’s father-daughter dance, a touching and proud moment between her and her dad. Then Tanner and his mom shared their dance, filled with emotion and love that had everyone tearing up again. Then came the anniversary dance, a favorite tradition where couples gradually leave the dance floor until the longest-married couple remains. It’s always a beautiful moment—and this time, Shelby’s grandparents stole the spotlight as the last couple standing. Everyone cheered for the couple as they made their way off the dance floor. Talk about inspiration! And then… it was time to really dance. The music turned up, the lights dimmed, and the dance floor filled with guests of every age bringing their best moves. Shelby and Tanner were at the center of it all and soaking up every moment. From the classic group songs to some spontaneous dance-offs, the night was filled with the kind of fun that you can feel in the photos.

Shelby and Tanner’s wedding day was a beautiful blend of faith, family, laughter, and legacy. Every detail—every joyful tradition, every silly dance move, every quiet moment—spoke to who they are as a couple. Grounded in love, anchored in their community, and ready to step into the future hand in hand.

It was such an honor to document this day, from the heartfelt first look to the final song on the dance floor. Shelby and Tanner, thank you for letting me be part of your story. May your days be filled with the same joy, tradition, and dance floor energy as your wedding day. 💛
